As we approach the launch of my debut speculative novel, The Working, I’ll post videos about the book. The first one: me reading the opening.
Watch for more videos and posts with background info, secrets about the magic, and the characters’ stories.
THE WORKING: A modern coven must thwart a looming eco-cataclysm and find the key to the bright future we need.
I hope to be able to reveal The Working‘s cover very soon. I posted a placeholder recently—it’s not the real cover!
It helps immensely for a debut author like me if you’d “like” my facebook Page (brightflame.1), and follow me on instagram (brightflame.2) and youtube (@BrightFlame333) … and share my posts. I’m also connecting with folx on Bluesky in place of the fascist, racist bird site. Fun (and devious) fact: the X icon on my site takes you to Bluesky, not that other place.
Whew, how will I keep up with all these socials? You can help by engaging with me on those sites!
By the way, posting public videos: a stretch for me. Hope you like them!
Upcoming events
I’ll be presenting a workshop at the online Solarpunk Conference June 29th (30th for friends in Australia and Aotearoa) with a group of authors from Solarpunk Creatures—the anthology from World Weaver Press that features my story, “Thank Geo.” We’re offering an experiential workshop on Decentering Humans. Join us! Registration is open and the schedule will soon be posted on the conference site. The conference theme this year: Rays of Resilience.
You have one more day (through June 7th Turtle Island timezones) to register for SpiralHeart Witchcamp where I’ll be co-offering a path on a solarpunk pentacle I developed. Camp runs June 17-23rd at a new-to-us venue in Pennsylvania (Turtle Island). Aligned with the antiracist and justice values of our Reclaiming Tradition of Witchcraft, SpiralHeart is free for BIPOC folx.
Finally, I’ll be joining my awesome Brooklyn Speculative Fiction Writers (BSFW) at Readercon in Boston mid-July where we’ll be reading from our new publications. [Note to self: update my bio on the BSFW site!) This will be my first time at Readercon, though BSFW has had quite a presence there.
More soon!
