Blessed Samhain to those who mark this holy day. It’s the final harvest. The time when life force “dies” to be reborn next season. With news of murder, of hate, of injustice and with the environment under attack on so many fronts, perhaps you feel that life force is dying. That we face insurmountable and unjust odds. And you grieve for what we’re losing.
At Wild Maine Witchcamp we worked with Lif (Life) and Lifrathsir (Love of Life) who, in the face of raging war and destruction, hid away in trees until a time when it was safe to come out. Perhaps they returned to a world already vital and renewed. But I like to think the story went like this: because they were magical and seeded a lush new world wherever they went, they brought forth the reborn world. They were needed.
We are all needed.
Take time at this turning of the seasons to go within, to the deep places, to the Ancestors, to the trees. Allow yourself to grieve. Then find that gem inside you that will create a vibrant, just, regenerating world. Commit to coming back and being that gem in the world.
Fruitful, Blessed, Restorative Samhain to you.
