Witch school for adults? Yes, there really are witchcamps, our name for Reclaiming Tradition’s weeklong intensives. And intense they are! We work between the worlds for a week, a deep dive into mystery and magic via weeklong paths and evening rituals. The paths range from Elements of Magic and other Reclaiming core classes to magical activism, to tapping into the Mystery, communing with the land spirits, and shadow work.
Here are a few of the witchcamp paths I co-taught in the past:
Council of Trees: Receiving and Acting on Messages from the Land.
Feeling and acting from our connection with the Earth is imperative in these times. Through experiential techniques, we will open to the Tall Ones and bring through their messages. What would they have us know now? What would they have us do to bring forth a just, regenerating world? What ritual might enhance this work? What mysteries, what connections, what wonder will they whisper? In addition to crafting magic/ritual with the trees, our path will bring relevant messages to the ritual team to incorporate in our evening magic.
The Gift of Baba Yaga: Facing Power with our Authentic Selves
We forge connections of deep trust with one another and our Allies (Ancestors, land spirits, elements, Mysterious Ones) to face power as our authentic selves, and bear the gift from Baba Yaga that we bring out to the world–conjuring our brightness, our power within, in service to a just, sustainable world. Using music, movement, trance, aspecting and the sciences, we will navigate our fears, our challenges, and trust in our power, our authority to act. (co-taught with Ann Schremp, Wild Maine Witchcamp 2017)
Pentacle of the Story
Themed to this year’s camp story, Queen of the Silver River, we will journey with Fearn (our protagonist) through the pentacle of the Silver River. Starting on the banks of Contentment, we’ll cast off into the turbulent waters of Challenge, find the current of Trust, navigate the river by Petitioning our Allies, journey through Right Action, and make our way back to the banks of Fulfillment. Along the way, we will explore the potentiality in our personal stories and in the world–what is and can be. We will run the energy of the pentacle throughout the week, diving deep into the pools of inner shadow work and outward focused action. Together we will explore the points of the pentacle of Fearn’s journey as we craft our personal stories, utilizing movement, trance, art, music, and visioning. (co-taught with Cathy Ponte, Vermont Witchcamp 2017)
Cocreating with the Land
As we cocreate our work this week how might we listen to the land? What skills will we hone, what energies sense and shape, as we create ways of working magic? Informed by the elements, with the land as our teacher we will move through a cycle of listening, embodying, flowing, visioning, synthesis and release. And woven through this will be the thread of our connection to our allies and those doing magic on the streets of NYC. (co-taught with Selchie Amazon, Vermont Witchcamp 2004)
