During an online planning meeting for a Reclaiming Tradition Beltane ritual, I raised me arms in the air, “Yeah!” My co-conspirator who’s part of a queer astrology group said, You’ve got that Aries lift.
He’s right. The sun is in the cardinal fire sign now: Aries. The April new moon was in Aries.
Feel a sense of possibility and potential this week seeded by the fiery Aries New Moon on 11/12th in a Super Conjunction of Chiron/Mercury/Ceres/Sun/Moon/Eris and Venus. Cardinal Fire sign Aries works through the 1st Ray of Will and Power, so it’s time to engage in birthing what is emerging. ~Lorna Bevan
My energy has soared since the new moon. Perhaps because I’m two weeks out from my second (covid) shot. Perhaps because I challenged myself to submit three short stories with deadlines this week that I’d only found out about last week. Perhaps because of some lovely feedback from friends. Perhaps because my soul knew it was time to lift from the slump I’d been in.
Lift!
I’ve been writing writing writing, feeling inspired and creative, and I made the three deadlines. I’m proud of myself and, more importantly, I love the stories.
The image that heads this post: my pen is on fire! (Click on it if you’re not seeing the whole picture.) I had fun creating that doodle for you—another lift.
Lift!
I spent half a day in the labyrinth clipping back wine berries and multiflora roses—invasive, but the Fey love them and the berries and rosehips are yum—humming to myself and delighting in the tiny monarda just breeching the soil, the petals floating down from cherry trees, the songbirds trilling and chirping, the toads whirring. I offered honey and raisins to the land in gratitude. I smile as I picture the Witches who will join me in the labyrinth for ritual.
Lift!
I’m co-creating an awesome Beltane ritual with Tejas Web friends. Connections with Reclaiming friends lift me, and meeting in zoomland has helped cross-pollinate our worldwide communities. I’ve always been a spider, a web-weaver, and it’s been my privilege and pleasure to help fertilize our web over the past year.
Honor your cycle
Nature is constantly in motion, constantly scribing cycles through time. I know that my energy will cycle low again. What pulls me through is my trust that it will again cycle high. I had very low energy and was unmotivated for more than a month. I don’t like being unproductive. What a breath of fresh air for my spirits to lift!
Nature—including us—is constantly in motion: dynamic and not static.
I wonder how you are feeling. If down/low/uninspired/worried, are you able to trust your spirits will rise? For me, being outside near trees helps. Another good practice: grounding (relaxing and sending my imagined roots into the ground), then feeling Earth energy rise through me and up to the stars. Dancing and singing aloud also help.
From my mom: pretend you’re an opera singer, even if you’re singing nonsense. Belt it out!
(Important note: clinical depression and similar conditions are serious and chronic—I’m not suggesting anyone can cycle out, especially not without help.)
Cycles are important. I’d burn out if I stayed as energized as I am this week. Allowing myself to relax and be, without doing, is restorative. It’s fruitful to go deep, noticing my shadows even if uncomfortable and difficult. Cycles make life more interesting, especially in hindsight.
Honor your cycles. I hope you find balance.
