This doodle is a placeholder as we work on the cover for THE WORKING, my forthcoming speculative novel.
I created the design to grace the flyer I brought to the recent Sacred Space conference. Behind the yellow starburst is a photo of the rings of a tree that came down in a storm. I was going for a web-like image with the star in center.
As I talk with the publisher and an artist about themes for the book cover, I perused doodles I’ve created the past few years. Most of them you’ve seen in my blog posts—I’ve created quite a few.
Perhaps you’ve noticed: I’m having fun.
Feeling your support
When I sent the final draft of my manuscript to the publisher earlier this month, I let you all know in a facebook post. I’m so touched: 83 (and counting) of my friends reacted to that post, and a few dozen commented.
The hard part is ahead of me—getting word out about The Working so it reaches a wide audience. I hope you’ll help spread the word. Once we have a cover design, I’ll {{{excitedly}}} share and include a link to the book on the publisher’s site. If you’ve not signed up for my infrequent newsletter, please consider doing so. I don’t share emails or send spam.
I intend The Working to ripple out to the world and help us create the bright, just, regenerative futures we (desperately) need.
I’d love for you to help make this so: spread the ripples!
The book has solarpunk notes in a contemporary, fabulist plot—my way of speaking truth through fiction. I can’t wait for you to meet the coven!
As I write, we’re about three months out from book launch. I intend for the process and The Working‘s birth to be fun!
