Solarpunk, solarpunk, solarpunk! You’ve likely heard me talking about this movement, aesthetic, genre for months! I’m also glowing about lunarpunk . . . or should I say, bioluminescing?
Android Press just announced the authors I’ll be among in the first ever lunarpunk anthology: BIOLUMINESCENT due out January 2023. Wow: Starhawk, Sarena Ulibarri, Neil Gaiman, and many others.
Plus, I have stories coming out in the November issue of Solarpunk Magazine, the next issue of Optopia—the mushroom issue—and a solarpunk anthology (late 2023).
If you’ve joined me for a solarpunk workshop (storying a bright future), you’ll have a sense of my impetus for those four stories. They are all set in the future I desire: regenerative, just, collaborative, interconnected, with humans decentered among all Earth kin.
I lift the same qualities in my two articles for the Center for Sustainable Futures at Columbia University. I’ve received wonderful feedback from readers. Hope you’ll take a look: Towards Solarpunk Futures (lots of resources included) and On Being the Earth. I plan more articles for our center in coming months.
I’ll be presenting at the first Climate Fiction Conference & Utopia Awards on October 1st. Join us for this online event with some fabulous people, including Starhawk, Oghenechovwe Donald Ekpeki, João Queiroz, Sarena Ulibarri, Ai Jiang, Phoebe Wagner, Rob Cameron, and many more. Register soon!
