My story “Myco Macro” just…um…fruited in Optopia’s mushroom issue! Like their previous issues, it’s a beautiful production.
I’m thrilled to share my solarpunk future world with you. This story takes place in the same world as “Maybe We Are All Witches,” and “When the Web Went Down” that will launch end of January 2023 in the lunarpunk anthology, Bioluminescent.
This future first came to me when Starhawk and I offered a workshop on Storying the Future. She led a visualization where we explored the future we desired. Perhaps you’d like to live in the future I saw—or a similar just, regenerative one—a solarpunk future.
We are the ones we’ve been waiting for
In other words, we need to work together to create these futures. Notice futures, plural. The one I long for is likely a bit different from the one you long for. It’s the overlap and the desire for similar elements and values that will bring forward an actual just, regenerative world.
Take heart! So many are working for these wonderful futures! Seeing the many solarpunk and aligned projects around the world lifts me, gives me hope.
Back to the new Optopia issue: I particularly like Sonecta‘s mushroom paintings including the one on the cover. And it’s lovely to share the pages with Sarena Ulibarri: her story about regenerative mushroom farming.
This post is an addendum to Stories for Beauty, Justice, Regeneration! where I shared my recent and forthcoming creations.
