The winds are howling today, grabbing at the oak leaves that still cling to branches. I watched the lunar eclipse this morning through these nearly bare branches. As the spark of brightness reappeared on the red moon, a weight lifted from my shoulders and heart, the heaviness that had lingered this past week evaporated.
What has been up for you this past week, and what feelings arise in your body as you read this?
Sometimes we feel the vibe of the wider world, its egregore. There are huge energies afloat in the natural and political worlds. Injustice, droughts, floods, fascism, oil spills, violence, injustice (yes, I’m repeating this, on the eve of the Kenosha verdict), and much more.
How does your body, your psyche react?
Sometimes we feel the Earth and Stars, like the November eclipse and meteor shower, like the alignments and discord among planets, like the ecosystem striving to rebalance amidst climate change.
Have does your body, your psyche react?
In this climate-changed ecosystem, peak foliage in the US Northeast was about a month late and sustained. I don’t recall a more colorful autumn display. While lovely and heart-lifting for humans, how quickly will other living beings and the ecosystem adapt to extreme weather, delayed seasons, flooding, droughts, extinctions? Perhaps Mother Earth gave us the sustained display to assure we fall in love with Her and act for Her well-being. Is this a faulty human-centered view? Perhaps the delayed season was due only to climate change. Consider ways in which both can be true at once.
